Internode.

Presumably the 512 Flatrate, unlimited pre-paid data at $99.95 per month.
Note that performance for the FLATRATE plans will vary according to downloading habits and underlying network load.
Data travelling through peering services is charged, as well as data sent to users within the same state (NSW). I would rather have PIPE and free data between users on the same ISP/state than Internode. :)

FAQ - Internode Personal ADSL FlatRate!
http://adsl.internode.on.net/faq/padsl-flatrate.htm

There are, however, advantages to Internode (as with any ISP) including:

* 1.4TB of mirrored files including Mozilla, BSD, Linux distros, Tucows (Windows, Mac and Linux).
* Supports rapid transfer
* 50MB of webspace
* 40 gaming servers, hosting games such as CS, DoD, BF1942, MOHAA, RTCW, T2, UT, etc
* Online radio streams (digitally imported, etc)

$100 per month is a bit much though, compared to other plans available, at the same speed (512/128) and with other bonuses/extras.

I've been with Internode FLATRATE for about 6 or more months now. And to say I have never suffered any sort of speed shaping due to underlying network load or high downloading habits.
note: Underlying network loads doesn't mean whether there are too many people downloading and the server can't handle it. The FLATRATE system works on prioritisation. If you download a lot, your priority decreases as well as your speed. For those who don't download as much are higher in priority and will not suffer speed decreases.

One month I downloaded about 45gb a month, another I downloaded about 35gb. And I think that is considered quite a lot of download in one month. And still I reach my maximum speed at all times.

I know I cannot say this for everyone, maybe I'm lucky? But with Internode FLATRATE your guaranteed to be able to download on average at least 24gb before you might suffer some sort of speed shaping.

$100 per month is a bit much though, compared to other plans available, at the same speed (512/128) and with other bonuses/extras.
Now let's compare prices and performances.

In my opinion, quality is much preferred over price to some extent.

I certainly understand that $100 is quite a lot to pay per month, where as other companies offer unlimited for <$90.

Looking more carefully (from the responses of other users), those so-called unlimited companies that used to exist such as:

Swiftel: Moved from being unlimited to now adding a download cap.

Ozforces: Unlimited 512k for $97 a month (close to what Internode charges for their FLATRATE.
But from the responses of others in the Whirlpool forms, it seems Ozforces provider COMindico isn't very reliable causing lots of down times as well as slow speeds (which isn't meant to happen.

Telstra: I'm sure you'd know they have a lot of problems with the inclusion of high costs. But I guess they do have fantastic speeds. In my opinioin doesn't outweigh the problems.

Data travelling through peering services is charged, as well as data sent to users within the same state (NSW). I would rather have PIPE and free data between users on the same ISP/state than Internode.
I guess that is the only thing I can see wrong with Internode at the moment. Well not wrong, but the only thing that isn't good about Internode.

If you are using FLATRATE, you'd find that heaps of other sites/servers are de-prioritised as in they do not affect your downloading habits and will always remain at full speed such as:

- Everquest (Sony)
- Starwars Galaxies (Sony)
- Planetside (Sony)

- Battle.net (Vivendi) - (USA, Asia and Europe servers)

- all of the Australian game servers we can find

As well as being able to stream audio relays that doesn't count towards your bill/priority.

So in my opinion, I would certainly say that is not expensive to pay $100 a month for that kind of service. One with probably the least about of downtimes (I've experienced about 2 downtimes that lasted 15 or so minutes ever since I joined many many months ago).

Other companies may offer better pricing but I would certainly doubt their quality of their service.

I'm not sure if you misunderstood me, but I wasn't "bagging out" Internode - I was only quoting from broadbandchoice (part of Whirlpool). iiNet offer a similar service of 20GB per month which I would imagine to be adequate for 'high volume' users, and as you've made the comparison already - this is in stark contrast to similar plans on the market, at this present time. I haven't been with Internode so I cannot comment, but I don't doubt your first-hand experiences with the Internode services at all. I do believe that 'extreme' downloading in excess of 40, 50 or perhaps 100 gigabytes per month will, naturally, incur shaping. I understand the prioritisation and it is a fair system that is in place. I know of a person who, although he isn't on Internode, will be transferring in excess of the hundreds of gigabytes (downstream) traffic at the abovenamed line speed of 512/128 (with the inclusion of overheads, this speed 'reduces' due to the medium in question by approximately 8-9KB off the theoretical limit of 64KB/s). On average, I believe the ADSL service offered in Australia varies according to other external factors (distance from the exchange, quality of the line, age of the copper, and so on), however it is not unusual to be having 54-56KB/s running constantly.

I can only say that, taking into consideration your Internet hours, habits, needs and requirements - that there are differing plans on the market which are designed to cater for various segments of the 'target audience'. I was only taking a direct quote, remaining objective, from broadbandchoice which I believe to be wholly objective, however there cannot be any guarantee. I didn't mean to say "Internode is crap, go back to Telstra" (or something similar) :)

Well I didn't take it that you tried to bag Internode out, rather it gave me the opportunity to explain why I thought Internode was actually quite well priced and reasonable.

I don't like posting on Whirlpool.

I think you need to go back to Mathematics class.
ADSL (theoretical max per 24 hours)
512kbits per second = 64kBytes per second

64*60*60*24/1024/1024
= 5.2734375GB per day
= 5GB per day, rounding down

Cable
Given your 700kBytes per second (on your Telstra Cable connection, uncapped)
700*60*60*24/1024/1024
= 57.67822265625GB per day
= 60GB per day, rounding up

120GB can only be achieved if you have a constant 700KB/s running for 48 hours, when on Telstra Cable. I don't know where you got those figures from (220MB vs 120GB) - you cannot compare traffic PER HOUR with traffic PER MONTH :p (It's actually 225MB if you do 64*60*60, but the comparison can only be made if you take Cable speed at 700KB/s going for one hour, as you are comparing the amount of traffic per hour, which equates to 2.40325927734375GB per hour or 2.5GB per hour on Cable @700KB/s).

64KB/s = 225MB per hour or 5GB per day.
700KB/s = 2.5GB per hour or 60GB per day.
