Did anyone else apply for this?

I got the call this morning saying I got the job -- I wanna know if I'll be working with anyone on here? :D

No more retail for Steve... as of a few weeks, anyway. *dances crazy dance, plotting the downfall of his retarded manager who thinks he can take away employees' breaks*

Essentially it's running around the uni doing whatever the registrar's office deems you should do in the leadup to first semester, the inundation of confused 1st year students, and the huge 'virtual queues' as we all sit and wait 5 minutes for estudent to load.

...for $22.80/hour, full time from the 17th Jan to the end of the holidays (though, there was a longer period, from 8 December- 22 December 2005 and 4 January-24 February 2006, which was filled with people who did it last year, and from 6 February 2006-24 February 2006.

To get this sort of job, do you have to first show your keen by doing voluntary stuff like mentoring etc?

Also, how do you find out about roles like this?

Just make it a habit of reading the public MQ CareerHub website. http://www.careers.mq.edu.au/CareerHub/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/CareerHub/default.aspx

Didn't necessarily seem to need to be keen; I'm sure the mentoring and MQ Marketing experience helped along with training for the BA/BSc stall (on open day) helped, but it wasn't a requirement. I have a strong history in retail, which helped when it came to the 5 conditions they were looking for (forgotten what they were... one of them was "meeting deadlines", another was able to "work in a team environment".. probably "available during required times" would be another one on the checklist they'd have to make sure of).
