Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

When I clicked on the UoW subforum, it came up with another page that was STILL the subforum. Had to click on it again to actually access the actual forum.

But yes, must still be in construction.

What are you planning on doing to the individual tertiary forums?

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

that should be correct.
it's so we can accommodate other faculties if needed later on.

the restructure is to standardise the look and feel of the site.

Why not just add the faculties later on if needed, and let general university be generic chit-chat under the university title?

There are a lot of university that the foreseeable future dictates won't need such revamps for a while, anyway. UOW/CSU/UNCLE/La Trobe/SCU are some of them. The amount of BoS users who are active in these forums are small etc.

But eh, I guess this way is a little more organised.

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

for a long time we've had confusions between the different university threads
this way makes it much easier to see.
we would've kept it the old way, but it was impossible to make the separations while keeping the old way.

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

If each thread in the uni section is categorise by the nature of the query (e.g. enrolment or "related to subject MATHXXXX") then searching+replying would be much more convinient. The new restructure does not help to disguish the 20 thread titled "tutes" but each refers to different subject and some refers to first week tute and some refers to what kind of books to bring in and some asked whether tut are optional and some ask where the tutes are....

It is very difficult to even find "unsw" without going through the list on the front page alphabetically.

Please, at least categorise the uni by states first...

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

why is it hard to go through alphabetically?

so everyone else complains that the extra click is not needed, and you wish to have a 2nd click?

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

i requested for a 3rd click outside the uni subforum (because of the increased number of unis). I still dislike the 2nd click wthin the subforum which makes me to go back and forum between each subforum within the uni subforum.

And it is not hard to find things alphabetically, it is just more time consuming for me. I can live with it I guess. Maybe replace the list with a geological map? that would be more intuitive for me.

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

Would it be possible to bold the 'major' unis or increase the font size for them by 1?

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring AGAIN

Since ACU is a multi-state uni it doesn't really belong in NSW category I think, the TAFE forum has the same problem since it doesn't just cover the TAFE NSW institution.

If I may make a suggestion, why not group the less busy universities into forums in a similar format to the HSC ones? e.g Regional NSW forum, VIC forum, QLD forum, Other forum, USYD forum, MQ forum, ACU forum, General Discussion etc.

This is because the less active ones don't have the faculty subforums so its kinda pointless to have the extra click in the first place so if its going to be there it might as well be used to sort things as using the category thing the way it is now means things are put in the wrong place and stuff, which might not seem that important but it would probably be as easy to navigate as the current one, plus it might make more sense for newcomers who don't know where to post.

I probably didn't articulate that very well but eh...

Re: Tertiary Forums Undergoing Major Restructuring

I dont see why the general stuff couldnt come up straight away and then have the faculties/etc as sub-sub forums much like say NCAP does not bring up a "general forum" that needs to be clicked on.......

Or is this a limiting factor of vBulletin?
