it nothing big, but ive been wondering if a novel would fit under the same text type as a short story?or are they different?

coz iv been told wen writng an essay ure focus and supplementary texts hav to be different text types.

technically, there are differences between a novel and a novella, however, these r not 2 great, so, in terms of ur question on whether they r 2 close 2 use in the same essay, id say yes. purely coz ur lookn mainly at techniques and how techniques convery meaning, so ud probably end up doubling up on many of ur techniques, which wouldnt demonstrate ur range of knowledge 2 the marker. so, unless u have very different techniques 2 use, id say find another text.
