I am currently working on an assessment for "King Lear". One element requires you to talk about how textual form influences meaning. However, I am having troubles stating exactly HOW different textual form do in fact influence the meaning conveyed in the text!
If anyone can give me a hand it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks

i think maybe the shakepearian olde english style language is a good textual form - is it a form... which can shape meaning by the context of the language.
Maybe also because it is a play, its meaning is influenced by the form of the dialouge?

No, Shakespearian language is not a textual form. Versed poetry etc is a textual form.

I just cant work out exactly how it affects meaning...?

Textual form.. think about how Shakespeare writes. The language in which he writes is not itself a form (it's English) but how he constructs his plays are.

Firstly, the play is a textual form. How are plays set out? Is there consistency in the way Shakespearean (or even Elizabethan) plays are constructed? (The answer is yes.)

Secondly, various aspects of Shakespearean plays use different textual forms to convey meaning to the audience. For example, a monologue is used to express a single character's point of view, to create empathy between them and the audience, or to 'set the scene'.

Dude, hmmz .. I thought that 3rd part was just on techniques. I don't get the question (the 3rd part).. so yeah.. oh man, its due on Tuesday.. and I'm screwed...

Evaluate the medium of production, textual form, perspective and choice of language that influences meaning...

So do I just talk about techniques such as:
- Languge
- Imagery [animal imagery]
- Use of Sub-plot
- Metaphor of tearing map

for future reference... why is it that colloquial language, jargon etc... have to be spoken about when we talk about textual form????
