Someone is a little naive aren't we now? A law degree (or studying for one) is hardly indicitive of intelligence, I cite your signature as evidence.
That was not the point i was trying to make. I was merely saying that he was the odd one out because all of those other major politicians had gotten law degrees. With regards to my signiture, that is merely to attract the ladies.

shouldn't we looking for a range of people representing the people, rather than all law grads. Yeah it requires a high UAI and hard work to get into it and stay in, but that doesn't nessarly make them the best person to represent the people of Australia. I sure as hell know i didnt vote for the person with the best degree, i voted for the person i felt best suited to represent me.

Shouldn't the parliament have a range of people who have done many different thing other than a law degree. And say in a country seat why would they vote for someone who has completed uni at USyd or UNSW.

On the other hand to be a Rhodes Scholar requires some brains...

I was unaware Abbot was a Rhodes Scholar I know that Kim Beazely and Bill Clinton are.

Every Liberal MP has a law degree except for 1 if my memory serves me correctly.

He criticised them for not giving him an honoury degree when his father scored the presidency.

From memory he was also a cheerleader....

He boasted on the 2000 campaign (at Yale) for people who fail not to dispair because one day they might also be running for president.

Bob Hawke went to ANU (law?) and ended up a Rhodes scholar too...then he kindly reinstated HECS as pm.

How dare you! Bob Hawke studied Arts/Law at the University of Western Australia (God Bless UWA!). He then went on to study a Bachelor of Letters in Oxford, via a Rhodes Scholarship. Bob Hawke did begin a PhD at ANU, but abandoned that in favour of a position in the ACTU.

To quote Wikipedia, "His academic achievements were probably outweighed by the notoriety he achieved as the holder of a world record for the fastest consumption of beer." And that my friends, is the measure of a politician. I can assure you, George W. Bush is a mighty fine politician by that particular standard.
