i calculated the mean with having n-1 in the denominator for the caculation of s.d. if you have n, you get 8. what is with the relative correct answer and correct answer i am intrigued.

and supra, you pansy :p

LOL...yeh i calculated the same way as redruM...So using n or n-1 is hte key...With n-1 i think we use that coz it gives better estimates of the variance or something
And u use n-1 for samples and n for populations right?

Looks like I was thinking about something else there. *-)

Your answer is relatively correct. Although the weights aren't the same, ie. for 67,67,83,83 the unit weights are 4,4,4,3.

with a couple of days remaining till marks come out, how bout we play a little game :D

estimate your marks for each subject, then we see how much we were off by in total. (taking absolute values for the pedantics here yes i am looking at you flyin';))

eg)
estimates:
abcd100 50
efgh101 60
ijkl250 45

real marks:
abcd100 50
efgh101 50
ijkl250 50

total score: 15. the lower your score, the better.

me:
accg200 70
accg250 76
busl250 72
econ141 70

the winner gets whatever is left in the cookie jar.

btw, we can access our results from 12.01 am on the 19th?
Im not suprised u started this thread!

I'm soo screwed. I shudda studied more. Why is Macquarie so cheap in handing out marks? :(

When I'm really bor3d, I'm gonna tally up all the marks from the Macquarie forum.. and make a diagram. Or not.

I hope I get my Credits.

I hate choking (so badly).

I'm going to study 6 hours a day (outside university), if I screw up and don't get my Credits.

Oh, watch me. One pass and I'm going to study at least 6 hours a day, which means no Bor3d (sorry) or MSN.

Last year when I was cautious, I went off MSN for like 1 month before exams started, and only came back on after my exams were over. I went study mad, in between. Maybe that's what I didn't do this semester.

I said that to someone last year, thinkin' they'd do fine (because they normally do fine). They didn't. My point is...

I've been very lucky on two occasions (I've needed to be) in my academic career - times when I might've gotten Pass. Maybe three occasions, if you count that one other time. But I don't think I'm getting out of this one alive. It just sucks to come this far, then screw up!!!:(

You can't use that! I don't give you permission to use our private correspondence in a public place, or should I paste up some of our other, more saucy conversations, hmm? Bahahah

I'm not say Actuarial is bad. I'm just saying I should study more (the general uni student problem). Actuarial is fine.
