Nah, practice 2 looks better:

1. 36 DAVIDSON Honda M 1'31"353 213.274 Km/h
2. 5 M.SCHUMACHER Ferrari B 1'31"751 + 0'00"398

28. 23 IDE S. Aguri F1 Honda B 1'39"021 + 0'07"668

However, Kimi, Trulli and Ide all had stops next to their names, have no idea why yet. Also, I'm surprised at how far down the list Toyota and Honda are, even williams as well (cause the cosworth is said to be the best v8 engine).

Its great to have F1 back :D

Actually from memory, Kimi did about 12 laps, which was about the number that race drivers were doing. The problem was that his engine blew up.

re: The Official F1 Thread

Some websites say that he has to change the engine, some websites say that it was just an electrical problem. Guess we won't know until later today.

As for Montoya, hes just back to his whinging ways. He thinks its 7km/h slower than Kimis engine down a straight. Ron should tell Montoya just to shut up and stop eating so many cheeseburgers. Anyway, I think theres a bit of tension between Ron and Montoya.

I wonder why lol. Ron has always disliked latino drivers. It was actually a suprise to me when they signed Alonso. Why do you dislike Montoya so much? Is it because he out qualified Ferrari in 2002(pretty shitty uncompetitive year, except for ferrari...) with a second to all Williams.

lol, super aguri fisrt lap 1:45.

That 7kms could be due to alot of things, such as toe ins (even toe out), camber and wings being the main ones. And for a driver to say that is very unlikely. Where is your source? Because i just think that this is plain bullshit. What, do you think kimi and montoya use the same setup or something? i doubt its something like that, if it's anything it's acceleration through corners. Again gearing is up to the drivers.

In the first session Kimi did 3-4. Then i stopped watching live timings.

re: The Official F1 Thread

I just don't like Montoya, nothing wrong with that. Hes arrogant and up himself and is too reckless to be in F1, he sorta reminds me of Sato in a toned-down way.

The 7km/h thing is not bullshit, its on every website that has F1 stuff on it. Every quote by Montoya features it.
However, Juan Pablo Montoya arrived back at the McLaren pits after finishing 13th in that session complaining bitterly of a failing engine.

He said, "We don't know what is going on, but running on the same revs I am about seven kilometres per hour down on Kimi with the same aerodynamic package.
He later goes on to say that its not fine over one lap, but during the race it should be fine.

Doesn't the 107% rule come back for qualifying now? If Super Aguri keep that pace up, not only will they be lapped about 50 times in a race, they will be lucky to even qualify at all.

And its just good to have F1 back, Sundays were boring with no motorsport.

As i said, that lack of speed could be caused by alot things. Not just rpm level. Camber, toe ins etc make alot of difference. Maybe even weight, hehe maybe he should stop eating burgers or whatever he eats.

Raikkonen's mech failure was hydrolics.

But you can't possibly say Montoya is arrogant! Look at MS (i like his driving skill, but his attitude to others after 1997 and 1998 was crap). Look at his babbling complains about monza last year. Bump here bla bla bla, braking at this bump bla bla bla. Tweak your suspension bumping then, if its such an issue under braking.

Any of you going to stay up till 2:30am. Hectic day for me so far. Woke up at 8am. Vist hospital till 10:50~am. Homework and study from 12pm to 4:00pm. Will probably rest or study more till 5pm. Then i will get on to F1 2005, and practice/race/qualify Bahrain at around 6pm-9pm. Then im going to be tired as hell and sleep! Hope i dont miss the qualification

7km/h is a lot to be losing for minor camber, toeing and even gearing adjustments. He is either running more downforce or his engine is playing up. Or, maybe he is resting his foot on the brake like Rubens was doing when he was at Jordan. But as far as I know, Monty is a left-foot braker.

re: The Official F1 Thread

Ok, since your new, I'll explain it. I generally don't like anyone. Yes, I even have my moments abusing Schumacher as well.

About Montoya's engine: its not like Mclaren and Montoya are just going to come out and say this is wrong and we need to do this. Who knows what it is, and quite frankly, I don't care about Montoya. He doesn't have the consistancy to be a serious championship threat. He might win the odd one or two races.

Dunno if I'll stay up to watch qualifying. I'll watch the live timing and see what happens. If its good I'll watch it. Plently of final fantasy and homework will need to be done to keep me awake. But I'll probably tape it as well, or sleep and tape it :p

Montoya has the speed and consistency. McLaren doesn't have the latter.

I dunno about always fast. Montoya seems to do well at Brazil and fast tracks (well in the williams days) at like Monza. Although, hes brillant after a restart behind a safety car.

Ooooh qualifying :/ Thought this Tf106 was supposed to be fast. Wasn't expecting Ralf to be out first round :mad1:

:D I haven't watched qualifying yet, but I watched the live timing. And whoever the hell said this qualifying system wasn't going to work is an idiot. Although, tracks like Monaco will be fun to watch.

Poor Kimi, and the Toyotas look slow!

And a great debut for Massa at Ferrari so far. Can't wait until the race. Apparently Woodsy isn't on it anymore.

The fuel thing for the top 10, is similar to last years. These guys are on race setups. Not turbo style hotlap stuff like earlier sessions(concerning fuel load)

The new quali is really good. That battle between Massa and MS throught top10 quali was pretty intense. MS even lost a bit of grip/traction at T3, but still is up .170 first split on Massa.

Who knows, Honda(jenson) and Ferrari may be running light, but it will be a good race i think. More people making moves since downforce has been reduced 30%~.

I agree, if Massa is about to win or something, he will probably get team orders to slow down. I must say these new V8s are crazy and Renault finally forced to add the 7th gear.

A friend of mine in Adelaide got to watch the sessions earlier. As soon as he said, 1 Mclaren didn't make the top 10, i was shocked. About 2hours later i saw Kimi's accident on TV and was speechless.

re: The Official F1 Thread

Good explaination, but oj is illiterate.

Oj - the top 10 cars are weighed before the final session with the amount of fuel which they start the race. Some will have more than others, so they will be faster. My guess is Massa is running light and will act as a barrier between the field and Schumacher. Anyways ... they warm up tyres and burn some of the fuel load until they can do one or two fast laps after they pit for new tyres. After the time is up, they go back to the pits and refuel to the amount that was in when the session began.

Maybe you should watch rpm instead of being on msn all the time. Crompton had a great explaination, I'm sure that he will repeat it tonight. btw, did anyone watch rpm? wtf was with that chick, if thats a way to lure females to watch motorsport, I can guarantee you it will not work.

It will be interesting to see who has what tyres left, remembering that there are only 7 sets for the whole race weekend.
