re: The Official Football Thread

Great finish by Lucas for the first goal.

Looks like Everton + Liverpool will be battling it out for 17th place towards the end of the season

Their title challenge is over after one week. This is what happens when crackpot Benitez sells Alonso... you have no midfield balance.
Not like Alonse didn't wanna leave anyway...

lol, looks like the derby has true meaning now. but so ridiculous people are writing off their team after 1 week, obviously bandwagoners. switch to arsenal then, they're doing alright. (pointed towards the liverpool fans).

Not really, been a Liverpool fan since I was about 5 or 6. I don't want to get hopes up, it's unrealistic. It happens every season. I have just become pessimistic over time. But I still support them, and I am not a bandwagoner as you put it.

West ham are just as bad really, considering this was a game at upton park.

in short they hate each other, but it's obviously gone to far with people getting stabbed and shit.

sad.

re: The Official Football Thread

haha LOL. what was it about though?
This is definitely one of the most bitter rivalries in England, even though the two have rarely been in the same division at the same time. In the 20’s there was a rivalry between 2 shipyards, on either side of the Thames. The Millwall, London and Surrey docks, were Millwall and the Royal docks were west Ham and it was an excuse for a tear up. The 1926 strike took things on to a whole new level when West Ham were on strike and Millwall carried on working. They were rivals before a football had been kicked between them. Both clubs originated in East London, but Millwall FC moved to the other side of the Thames (South London) in 1910.

re: The Official Football Thread

draw for UCL group stage has been completed.

wouldn't really say there is a 'group of death'. the teams for the knock-out phase basically choose themselves.
these are my tips:

A: bayern munchen, juventus
B: man united, cska moscow
C: ac milan, real madrid
D: chelsea, atletico madrid
E: liverpool fiorentina
F: barcelona, inter milan
G: sevilla, stuttgart
H: arsenal and AZ alkmaar because we all love holman.
