Re: The Official Football Thread

Could they possibly use GWS's (AFL) stadium or is that just AFL only?
Is that the one in Blacktown near the Olympic Baseball/Softball or whatever place?

it is owned by the afl since the government pretty much funded $50million to upgrade it for them so if we want to use it we'd have to pay gws cash. plus its an oval and football fans want rectangular grounds

We have a Sydney Showground?

a great final to watch. congratulations chelsea
wat. it was pretty crap for the first 83 or so minutes.

Other than Bayern skying chances every 10 or so minutes. Or watching one of Bayern's 20-something corners.

It was not crap. It was a terrific performance defensively in which we managed to keep to one of the best strikers in europe quiet. What was crap was sbs' choice of commentary team.... absolutely no insight whatsoever.

Well, to me it looked like Chelsea parked the bus and wasn't really interested in doing anything too risky.

Plus, whatever happened to David Basheer on commentary?

Re: The Official Football Thread

Bayern were on decline ever since the second half of the Bundesliga season.

I knew they'd choke and lose the final to a weakened Chelsea squad who were on a high after the FA cup win and Barcelona victory. I guess all those millions from Abramovich have finally paid off

Re: The Official Football Thread

just as the commentator with the german accent called them during the german cup final, they are bayern vice, coming second in the league, domestic cup and champions league.

With the irony being that this was achieved by a caretaker manager who was sacked from West Brom.
