You only have to do a language or int communication if you do a BA (IR) as a named specilisation, (which can't be combined with law). When you do a BA (IR) you do two majors one is IR and the other a language or international communication.

When I flipped through the very purty glossy booklets I noticed that the list of subjects in polit science and IR seemed very similar (like a 95% crossover) so I wondered what actually is the differance?

yeh I actually went and read the booklet when I had time...

and yes I noticed that too....

maybe you're not allowed to do both majors....either IR or PS, but not both...oh well, I might do commerce/law instead or else IR + spanish or anthropology or something similarly scholarly

I'm thinking public sevice for a couple of years, maybe something like refugee tribunal, then packing up and leaving to work overseas for the majority of my glorious career in the UN.

or something like that.

i already do french, going to continue that and major in IR as well. So two of the UN languages down! then spanish i think i might do .

glass half full guys...I think we're safe, A. The UAC guide even says that students below the cut-off are welcome to apply regardless, we can always just write a letter and mention mock trial etc. But come on, 3 - almost 4 - points? I really doubt it. It's been pinned at 95 for ages, even if it does go up I'm sure it wouldn't hit 99 just yet.

I'm planning a focus on international humanitarian (or is it human rights?) law, then hopefully work with amnesty international, UNHCR, etc. Just to start off with. Oh well, I can dream.
