i have a dt exam on thursday...an essay i have to write is about the impact of design innovation on society. we've studied the impact of internet sites such as youtube, myspace and second life and how they impact on society. are there any other suggestions of design innovations and their impact??? it would be great if you could help.

Wow you could talk about absolutely anything for that!

Think about some of the biggest innovations of our age! Electricity for one! The impact that has had on society is endless! and you could even take that topic down the environmental path (fossil fuels... electricity generation).

There are so many more! Try:

Innovation in medicine, or
The petrol engine, or
the aeroplane, or
Even very simple things such as the Hills Hoist or the sewing machine have impacted society!
