Firstly I’d just like to apologise if I posted this thread in the wrong category, it’s just I didn’t know where else to. I thought that someone here may be able to help me =), I’m also interested on taking up S and C next year. I’m looking for information regarding popular culture and media, particularly its influences on youth (the bad effects, how they bombard youth and teens in society with images and generalized ‘acceptable’ ways to perform and its consequences.) I’m really hoping this makes sense.
I was hoping to right a speech on it and was hoping to use any information anyone had (for reference purpose only of course), this is because I haven’t been able to find in detail enough information.

bso your bottom line is how pop culture and media influences adolescents today?

You know what, I reckon you should write your own perspective, backed up with secondary research (go to the local library and check out the "media" type books, they should have some info on contemporary pop culture influencing kids today). You can use the method of observation. Just walk into a store at your local shopping centre or wherever, see what music they are playing (eg. Sanity's a good idea at times) and see how people react.
