the reason why i prefer biggie is because he had that hip hop element that 2pac never did... and plus 2pacs music was much more commercialised than biggies, which meant more ppl liked 2pac coz his beats and catchy choruses got the better of listeners... but the better lyricalist was biggie and thats my reason for biggie being the better rapper.... real hip hop came from the streets of the east, no doubt!

i think both are over rated... really i mean come on they cannot be the best that will ever do this... right?
im not saying i wouldnt listnin 2 pac or big if they came up on the radio but... id rather listen to nasty nas or jigga if they were on a different station

jay-z is my favourite too, and i LOVE T.I and nas. and common is definently one of the best emcess EVER. but biggie is in no way overrated hip hop is all about narratives, and biggie was the king of that.

Pac's only overrated because too many try hards like him. he's still fucking gun. POint in case, The song Got My Mind made up, he kills meth and redman (and kurupt). And the stuff of everything pre AEOM is awesome. Biggie is probably a better rapper and I reckon funnier too, but I prefer Pac because he just made more songs I like (Biggie 2 great albums and one fuckd up by Puff).

Agree with most others said as to who are best. Nas, meth, Mos, Talib, Common, Rakim, Big L, Jigga, Immortal Technique...Id like to add Pharoahe Monche (duh), Black Thought, Prince Po, O.C., Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane and I have a soft spot for Q-tip- great voice.

yeah he's defo done classic shit. But top 5? I wouldn't put him above any of the ones I just mentioned (like 10 of em) and I didn't even get into CL Smooth, Raekwon, Run, GZA, Chuck D, Ice Cube..... There's heaps of good mc's, and LL is definetly one.

yes you can. You can say who is better by the conventional standards that the genre has set. And biggie is the better emcee. Teenyboppers like cassie, and people can say she isn't talented...because she isn't. Some people like paris hilton's 'music' and people can DEFINENTLY say that it's absolute fucking bullshit, because it is.
