Playing WoW for 2 months during my midsems dropped my calculus test results from 70 to 40s.

'Relaxing' instead of studying for the week before my exams (doing casual practice exams etc) made me get 45% in my physics and chem exams when I was got 70% average in my coursework and mid sem/trial exams.

If I didn't stuff those two things up I'dve gotten 95 instead of 90 - I think getting more than 95 is overkill unless you want scholarships/need it for your course.

EDIT: I think a tutor would have helped by providing organisational advice and mentoring
Playing wow for an extended period of time lowers 2u maths hsc mark to band 2.
actually happened to someone in our school.

like wow is even a game worth playing.
/slow people

James Ruse have an amazing selection of past papers.
wow

/care

like i care about a school i dont attend and dont want to attend.

it depends on your other subjects.
i was doing 2U, but, with my other subjects, my workload was huge.
dorpping down was the best decision ever :)
im not saying i dont study for maths, but it isnt as necessary now that i do general.
seriously, the work load becomes so much lighter and there isnt as much stress involved.

personal advice? drop to general :)
yeah if i droppped 3u maths to 2u maths id regret it.
i would have lost the prerequisites required and maybe even need to do an expensive bridging course.
wow omg thnx 4 ur advice !!!

now heres a thought..
hmmm i wouldnt mind dropping down, it would be a such a relief.
but.. so many uni courses ask for "2 unit mathematics or more"
i dont know :(
Exactly.
general maths is often for those who have no hope in maths, its a joke.
in fact, 2u maths is demanded by so many uni courses it is worth keeping.
except if you are doing arts lol.
i wouldnt want to imagine dropping from 3u maths to general.

Kewl. Thanks for posting this thread. Was going to post something similar.

Cool advice and all, but for those who aced the HSC, what was your actual study routine? What was your average day after school?

Study as soon as you get home, or wait a bit? etc etc etc
My "routine" (pretty non existent atm) needs some tweaking.

dont play dota.

dont memorise essays
Dota is a horrid game. Hate hate hate it!
Anyway, I find memorising essays really useful, as it helps with time constraints. Just use it as a base and manipulate it to work with the question.

By the way, where do you guys get such a large selection of past papers?
All I use are the standard packs on the BOS website :S
