Have you thought about which specialty? I'm guessing psychiatry, (as your alternative to medicine is psychology) because you probably enjoy talking to people??
I've got a few specialties in mind: cardiothoracic surgery and emergency medicine are the main ones I'm looking into. Others include: neurosurgery, cardiology, plastics, orthopaedics, OB&GYN just to name a few.

But hey, I get to inflict pain and get paid a lot for doing it. Sweet.

Yeah, in the SMH today they said that starting salary for dentists is meant to be $85 000 or something by 2007

But then I also heard that dentists have the highest suicide rate of all professions. Probably because everyone hates going to see you.

I've wanted to be a journalist ever since I could write. Hoping for the UAI to get into Sydney Uni but if everything falls through I'll probably end up in High School teaching.

I'm thinking of doing either psychology or neuroscience
but I think I'm more on the psychology side, juz coz the career outcomes are better... and that way I still get to do similar subjects

at the moment I'm thinking of doing research work after I finish the degree, but I think it's always better to do something with a wider range of career outcomes, juz in case I change my mind halfway

and I wanna combine that with languages or music

You're doing med science at syd? i think that's the long way to get in isn't it? which is why i'm applying straight from high school next yr at uni of adelaide: I want to avoid school as much as possible after hsc!

And don't mind hello99999's mention of that high suicide statistic. We'll show em, i mean, how can anyone with that much money be unhappy right? anyways i can't wait, the course sounds so interesting.
