Sunny, it was still a fantastic achievement! A first class honours degree overall. Well done!

Are you guys moderators?

I don't really see you guys around here much...in fact this is the first time I've seen either of you posting.

I'd like to take this as a chance to say hello, Survivor39 and sunny. :)

Hi Anfernee. Yes. Sunny and I are both moderators.

I mainly post in the UNSW Science/Med section or other Universities' Science sections.

isnt comp sci a 3 year degree? how did 4 yrs end up 6 yrs :s

Well he did honours so It's 4 years and it seems he might have studied part-time at various points along the way for whatever reason.
It's quite feasible that he could have also taken progam leave or he might have changed courses...I'm sure sunny will have all the answers.

I was on coop for comp sci, so the degree was already a year longer than everybody else's (4 instead of 3). After that I decided to take it slow and did thesis over 3 semesters instead of 2 so thats another 1.5 years. Grand total of 5.5 years for a science degree :p with honours

Medal on cse wam and whoever your competing against.

I suggest you go and relax for the 6 months. Better than working 24/7. :)

Congrats on first class honours.

How'd you do your thesis over 3 semesters?

What was your thesis on?
If you ever saw anyone at the physics lawn flying a helicopter looking thing that was me! The project was to use the 4 bladed helicopter to track a moving ground target. You can read a not so brief overview here! The robot was new to CSE and I spent a lot of time doing work to interface with the robot's hardware and software, then spent the rest of my time doing vision stuff to make it see and follow a target.

Thats the plan!

Thesis year has something like 5 regular subjects + thesis A and thesis B. By the time I actually started thesis year in 07s1 I'd already done 2 extra regular subjects from undergrad.

So in 07s1 I did 2 subjects (adv graphics and machine learning), s2 I did thesis A and computer vision, then continued to "work" on my thesis over summer and did thesis B 08s1.

Me and two of my friends did that too, its just way easier to concentrate on thesis that way. All you're doing is thesis B and nothing else. Some people wouldn't like that since they want to graduate as soon as possible but we didn't really mind.
