'The Simpsons' has been aired for a period of almost fifteen years, even excluding the years it was a cartoon on the Tracey Ullman show, 'America's favourite depository of psychiatrist jokes and musical comedy numbers'.

The first episode, 'Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire' premiered December 17th, 1989, with the present season (Shown this year in Australia) being the fifteenth.

If Tracey Ullman episodes are included, The Simpsons premiered on April 19th, 1987, and as such, have been airing for a consecutive period of almost seventeen years..And on, until the show is finally run into the ground, if it already hasn't been.(Troy McClure was right.)

Yeah...'Seperate Vocations' is indeed great, as are most episodes of that period.. (Watching these episodes reminds me anew of how much the show has declined..)

Sure, we have order, but at what price!

The episode following that, 'Homer At The Bat' is also classic, with the nine unfortunate fates ('three unfortunate fates, I can see that happening, five unfortunate fates, theres an outside chance, but nine unfortunate fates..') afflicting Mr Burn's softball ringers, particularly those of Wade Boggs.

Barney-And I say that England's greatest Prime Minister is Lord Palmerston!
Boggs-Pitt The Elder!
Barney-Lord Palmerston!
Boggs-Pitt The Elder!
Barney-Lord Palmerston! (Punches out Boggs)
Moe-Pfft...Pitt The Elder.
Barney-Lord Palmerston! (Punches out Moe)

and Steve Sax;
Sax-Don't I get to call my lawyer?
Lou-You've watched too many movies, Saxy-Boy.

Eddy-You know, I heard someone got murdered in New York City and they never found the culprit.
Sax-But there are hundreds of unsolved murders in New York City.
Lou-You just don't know when to keep your mouth shut, do you Sax?

Was funny. :(

To defend Marge, she is quite funny as the straightman/voice of reason. Two examples;

[From 'Clown Without Pity', ToH III.]
(Bart opens package to reveal talking Krusty doll)
Grandpa-That doll is evil, eevil I tellsya..Eeeevil!
Marge-You said that about every other present.
Grandpa-I just wanted attention.

[From 'Homer Badman]
(Homer's underwater fantasy concludes..)
Homer-Under the sea..
Marge-Move under the sea. Thats your solution for eveything. It's not going to happen!
Homer-Not with that attitude.

Tonights episode was hilarious. With Marge making those needlepoint "Get Well Lenny" signs. :D
"Not Lenny?!?!?"
