I've kinda been lazy for the first half of the year 12 course averaging about 75-80% in all my subjects.

Given my last assessment marks were:
Business Studies: 80%
Maths 2 Unit: 87%
English Advanced: 87%
English Extension 1: 80%
English Extension 2: waiting for report mark back - estimate 80+
Ancient History: 93%

If I were to keep those marks or better in the trials and hsc, would a 95+ UAI be out of the question?

I'd like to get 95.5, that's my aim (Macquarie Uni Law/Arts) - if that's not likely then at least 87 (same course UWS).

I think my school ranking was either 229 or four hundred and something. Yikes.

Anyways, any advice at all would be welcome.

Put ur makes into SAM (you got 92.25), by the looks of it u definatly can achieve 95+ if you put your work into it.

So what marks would I be needing? 85+ in everything? I think I can do that.

By the way, I'm doing pathways. Basically I'm doing 8 units this year and 7 the next because I was accellerated a few years earlier in my school life. That way I'll be 14 when I graduate.

I only put Ancient History in to fill the gaps. Next year I'm doing Ancient, Modern, Legal Studies, and History Extension. I think I can get 90+ in Ancient and Modern and 85+ on Legal Studies.

So as long as I go well in at least 2 units of english and have 85+ marks from my next best units, all should be good?

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Woah! Full HSC load too! There have been people who do one unit here and there, starting from 13 years of age...but full load?! Wow! I feel old--and I thought just having turned 17 three months ago was pretty alright actually! And yes, you don't even need 85+ in all your units to get a UAI of 95+--it's pretty easy to if you're averaging 80's (depending on the scaling of your subjects, of course). Though I'm saying that because only one of my units was below 85, and I got comfortably higher than 95.

Altogether (over my tweo years) I'll do these subjects:

Year 1:
Maths 2 Unit
English Advanced
English Extension 1
English Extension 2
Business Studies

Year 2:
Ancient History
Modern History
History Extension
Legal Studies

I think I can get 85+ in both school and HSC for my subjects next year.

I think I barely passed my maths trials that I did this morning, so that's not too good. Luckily 15 units leaves a few subjects that don't count.

I put all my English Adv assessment marks together: I averaged 82
English Extension: 73
English Extension 2: 75
Maths: 77
Business: 75

Apart from stressing alot, my question is:
What kind of Trial/HSC marks do I need in my subjects this year (excluding maths) to get a UAI of 95, coupled with 85+ marks in my 2nd year subjects?

How hard does your school mark? In normal circumstances, had I looked literally at my raw trial marks, I'd have been severly disappointed. As it was, the emphasis was on ranks so I was more looking at the trials for an opportunity to majorly pull up my ranks, rather than the marks. It's redundant, imo, to look at marks especially if you're not sure how hard your school marks, and anyway the moderation process is based on your rankings, not your raw marks.

My trial marks, personally, were all mid 70s but with overall HSC marks of high 80's. You can see that basing your goals on raw marks alone is not too helpful in itself. You'd be best just to get the best rank possible, that way, you'd get the benefit of not only having a backup should you burn out before the externals, but also it's a good learning process, the trials, to consolidate your knowledge.

Also, check your school statistics. How many people (on a consistent basis, not like just one freak year or something) get UAIs of 95+ at your school? If no info is given, can you deduce it from other similarly performing schools? I know that my ex-school only said that '50% of our students get a UAI of 90+' which wasn't helpful to me because I was thinking of a UAI of 95+ too. No info on UAIs of 95+ was given. However, surfing other similarly performing schools yielded the statistic that 35% of their students had achieved UAIs of 95+, so from this I deduced that I'd have a high chance (but not a definite chance) of getting a UAI of 95+, which I did clear by almost 2 UAI points.

Ah okay. I'm just gonna put the best I can into it I guess and see what happens, if it comes down to it I can probably give it another try if I need to (because of my age). =D
