How about:
In theory it doesn't matter, because whatever uni you go to, you leave with virtually the exact same skills as you would if you'd done the same degree somewhere else.
However, in terms of employment potential, it's all about prestige whether it's fair or you like it.
Besides which, in Australia, the greater the prestige of the uni/degree, the greater the UAI requirement, and the UAI is one of the few ways we have of measuring a person's relative intelligence.
So you hire someone with a degree from a good uni, it automatically means they had a good UAI to get in there.

Sorry, you must go to one of those universities which are INTERNATIONALLY PRESTIGIOUS no? Otherwise, prestige is about as useful as grades, connections and a slew of other things. Going to X uni in Australia, generally, really doesn't matter too much.JJmn said:

The UAI requirements are based on supply and demand, not on some abstract notion of difficulty. Let's make it very clear, you graduate with a shit or mediocre GPA/WAM, you graduate with the bare essentials while someone else has a long list of extra curricular activities, you graduate with the inability to interview well, and in any of these cases it won't matter which uni went to, because someone else will most likely get the job.
