ahh nick
god rest your soul...(and when the loving comes and we're already gone, just like your dad, you'll never change)

hmm, im obliged to say thom simply because i am finatical about radiohead. ive only recently been exposed to buckley's work <dodges projectiles>
thom yorke can be really sloppy live sometimes, but he has moments of sheer brilliance. i think its unfair to dismiss his early work as pablo honey displays some of yorke's finest vocal masturbation, such as the "she's running out" part of creep, and the really long screaming note in "you"
im glad shane pointed out that both yorke and buckley are terribly under rated guitarists, though i think its naive to say that yorkes lyrics have gone unpraised. he is, in my opinion, one of the finest lyricists of the last decade. its probably unfair to compare their song writing since buckley died before he produced a substantial body of work, but i would really like to know if jeff's style would have changed as dramatically as radiohead's. probably not, but it makes for a good fantasty

also chelloveck, i bought tickets to sydney (waste seated) and melbourne (waste GA) shows. i'm only going to one show in each city though. im so jealoused of those lucky twats who got GA tickets to all four shows. selfish as it sounds, i know i would enjoy those tickets more than they ever could.

i live in bathurst by the way :p

sorry for the triple post, but what about a competition between Buckley and Matt Bellamy of muse, or matt vs thom for that matter.
all fucking amazing vocalists. matt would definitly win in terms of mus(e)icianship (sorry :p) though.

yeah, early radiohead just doesn't appeal to me as much as later radiohead...there is just nothing on pablo honey that can stir as much emotion in me as something like 'sail to the moon' and 'exit music'...not even 'creep'

creep is so cliched.
i cant help feeling like you missed my point entirley though. i wasnt saying that pablo honey was as good as their later stuff. but in terms of vocal ability, i think it displays some of yorkes finest techincal work.

'creep' is cliqued?...even the '"she's running out" part of creep'?

i didn't miss anything man, i'm saying pablo honey doesn't appeal to ME in anyway (especially vocal ability) as much as other radiohead. i'm not saying that for the sake of arguing, i really don't think that yorke sounds as good in terms of "vocal ability" as he does in other songs...my opinion, do you know what an opinion is?

yes i actually misread
my mistake.

to put it simply, thom yorke has better control of timbre, but has a more limited vocal range.

incidently that section of creep was a ripoff of another song, radiohead got sued and admited that it was borrowed, and now they have to pay royalties every time it gets played.

Overall, I'd say Jeff Buckleys voice is better...but who the fuck else can scream like Matt Bellamy? 10 points just for that.

matt would wipe the floor with yorke and buckley if it was down to who was a better musician

i like the sound of bellamys voice more than buckleys, though they can both be very melodramatic at times :p

yeah everclear's two-part album transcended the $3 'unsold music' bin in which it lived
