Thoughts on Independent 2014 MX2 Trials? (1 Viewer)

Just tried the independent 4u 2014 trial.

I've got to say that was a very very hard test. but not as hard as Carret's BOS trials ofc ;D

just wanted thoughts from people who have tried/seen this test, especially regarding difficulty level (in particular in comparision to HSC).

BTW, I do know of one person who completed the whole paper in 2.5 hrs.

I have seen the paper and it is much more difficult than any HSC paper would be. Most of the questions were very tedious and time consuming. IMO; probably wouldn't have gotten all of it out and maybe 65 - 75 raw?

Generally; independent and cssa papers are more harder than the HSC along with some school trials

hmmm. for some reason, 2 top 5 schools I know of pretty much always set papers slightly easier than hsc. idg why.

disagree. if by top 5 you mean ruse, baulko, syd x 2 and the other one then not really.

none of "those schools" are on par with HSC papers

as an example, I really don't think this paper truly indicates/parallels the difficulty of the real hsc exam.

yes it has some toughies, but doesn't go far enough, in comparison to hsc.

yes it has some toughies, but doesn't go far enough, in comparison to hsc.

yeah that exam seems on par, or imo a little easier than some HSC papers I've seen. the questions are very straightforward

Was pretty easy, they've written 10x more harder papers -> just check 2007-08. But yeah, the things that took up the most time was the volume of the frustum (didn't realise that the slices horizontally were annular lol) and the very last part of the last question took me a while to get out. But yeah, what was up with the random partial fractions question that had no integration as part 2 lol.

Was pretty easy, they've written 10x more harder papers -> just check 2007-08. But yeah, the things that took up the most time was the volume of the frustum (didn't realise that the slices horizontally were annular lol) and the very last part of the last question took me a while to get out.

Really? I've only seen that girl in the 4U advanced thread that seems a lot better than you. Remember you got 10 spots to fight for!
