I'm thinking of getting one.

Have you had any trouble with yours yet? What are the pro's and con's...


I've seen (and heard) a lot of bad things about iPod's...so I don't wanna waste my money on something that will conk out in a year.

I've got one.

Pros: awesome

Cons: the black one gets dirty really easy, and it earned a nice scratch from a coin i had in my pants

If you get one, buy an ipod skin + screen protectors (plastic overlay things).

Battery life is good if you charge it properly (always charge when it is below 5% battery left, etc).

yeah thats what happened to my black ipod nano - a big fat scratch

the sound quality of ipods is alot less than creative and other competitors

bad bass response of ipod:

but if you like pretty things over functional things, go for it

i-river I-HP 100 frequency response is the best

Pro: Size and cost (30gb for 450), secksyness (I got a ipod skin straight away and has not come out of it since I bought it.

Con: 3rd party software needed for video conversion.

Worth it.

my mates got the ipod video, they are fairly good.. have a look into if they still offer educational discount? i think it might be about $50

zing. i got my 30gb for $390 ... and its sex

apart from it freezing when i first plugged it into my computer its awesome, no problems since, and i use it every day continually to store photoshop/illustrator/archicad/word stuff for uni.

+ i get to dance around the city making a public spectacle of myself for hours and hours. whereas before, i used to do it playing songs from my phone, and i could only fit 512mb of songs on there...

well i got mine for 395 at the good guys.
and i didn't parade around with minimal clothing either.
it was 450 there before
but they gave it to us for 395. and it's 30 gb. well worth it, no problems so far. but you know everyone who has one tell how their's screw up after a year or so.
in that case, i'd go for an iriver.
also, to actually upload video's, you have to get the additional software to convert to that particular file extension thingymabobby.
so. yeah...
you could get an iriver multimedia player which plays videos and everything too. you can order it off e-bay from their stores, brand new for 450 i think it was.
pro: doesn't die after a year, takes all video file extensions
my brother has the iriver, it's great.
my ipod's great too. but you won't think so when it screws around with you after a year or so.
