when i bought my laptop comp it had 768MB DDR RAM. I'm using my comp mainly for word processing and web browsing, so will i notice any difference if i take out 256MB? cos i wanna flog it on ebay sometime soon....

My computer savvy friend says that it actually drains more energy and creates more heat...is this true?

Also, for 256MB DDR PC2100 266MHz how much can I expect?

Not much I dont think.

Just browsed ebay, I would say ~$40 depending on the brand and all.

No you won't notice a difference. Yes it does create a little more heat and use a little more power - but nothing to worry about.

You won't get much for 256mb at all. I'd say around $30-40
