this is a gay thread
you should have called it "top 10 rock musicians"
or 'top ten musicians of the last century, or even decade"

if its best musicians of the last century (in no particular order)

rachmaninov
stravinsky
gershwin
frank zappa
myles davis/charlie parker
john lennon/paul mccartney
david bowie
jimi hendrix (only because he was fundamental in the development of rock music as we know it today, which i believe was one of your criteria)

obviously there is a plithera of blues, jazz and classical musicians that i dont have the space to name. and sadly i had to leave out thom yorke, who is my favorite musician, but kinda pales in comparison to the ones i mentioned

glycerine

well, as this is a list of the musicians which have shaped the way *I* look at music, I don't feel the need to look at it on a global scale etc. I realise that yes, there have been more influential and probably more talented musicians, but yeah, this is really a me thing. so.

(no particular order)

1. thom yorke
2. trent reznor
3. roger waters
4. bob dylan
5. stevie nicks
6. george harrison
7. joni mitchell
8. david bowie
9. mary black
