Random question but i was just wondering if anyone knew what the top raw mark was/has been in previous years' HSC

The highest mark they awarded last year was 99.

so does that mean that they predetermine that the highest mark they will give is 99? How come if they align it, someone doesnt get given 100? Its so confusing!

I came equal top of the state in 2003 and got a hsc and assessment mark of 97. So the mark cant be predetermined - i have no idea where the 97 came from - i know my entered assessment mark was higher than this.
