Ive read that Australia is the only market to have both designs (like Camry and Aurion) and that the TRD Aurion is exclusive to Australia.

Lol hmmmm, let me see....
chrome doorhandles : Heaps of cars have this, most luxury cars namely, and the Aurion was designed as a luxury car for its Asian market, thats why even the base model has a wood grain dash etc, well imitation wood at least.
* chrome around the windows : Not sure if its chrome, exact same look but... my Gen3 V6 Camry has the same thing lol! Did Honda copy Toyota then? Lots of cars have this!
* the chrome nose is similar : I will admit their is a similarity in materials, shape is different though.
* the ridges on the bonnet : Its aerodynamics, every car company has roughly the same!
* indicators on the side mirrors : Now this is a relatviely distinctive feature of the Euro, but I am very sure that Mercedes and other luxury car brands were the first to come out with it... Honda a rip off of Mercedes? Also there is a list of other cars with it now these days, like the new Liberty for example.
Personally like I said before, alot of cars look similar these days.... the new Holden for instance has alot of similarities IMO at least with the Falcon. If anything, I think the Aurion looks more like the straight out Accord :
Subtle differencs being the lights aernt triangle, but initialy shape is same, grill is bigger but looks similar, rear is very similar just smaller lights on back of Aurion etc. And in say this, it also looks similar to a Sonata as well because Ive always thought they copied the Accord!
Either way, it has enough distinctive features I think to set it apart, and starting price has been estimated at $35k to compete with Holden etc... for that you get virtually a luxury car with the most powerful and economical engine in its class... and despite not having manual you can guarrantee the the transmission will be decent, they made smooth changing trans with 4 gears so you can only guess how good their 6 gears will be (Although they did have probs with it in the US camry for some reason, not sure if they used da same transmission, Im doubting they did though)

In relation to the choice to have auto's across the range I have read this in another forum :
"the car is auto only because, along with the electronic gadgets, it removes 99% of axle tramp and torque steer. this gives it a 0-100 time of 6.5seconds and you dont know its a fwd"
Its also going to be triptronic so its not all bad.

I find it weird that this is the "Camry" which Asia got... would've expected them to get a smaller Camry than Australia.

That and the Aurion isnt that much bigger then a Camry if at all... it really just is a Camry with a nose job and a better engine.
Aurion's alright, but the grills of the new toyota cars are ugly, really really ugly! Man these futuristic cars are beginning to be too much. Even the holden's starting to get some "futuristic" influence.

If the TRD Aurion looks anything like this, surely it will be a hit - decent looks, plenty of power. Also looks very lexusy, which is a good thing.

Sports concept looks good.
I went down to have a peak at the Aurion last week. Wasn't expecting anything too different to the Camry. Firstly it is a good looker. However I was disappointed with the interior fit and finish. I'm not sure if it is because it is an early build or because Australians simply cannot assemble cars properly but there was noticeable interior panel misalignment. Interior fit and finish was similar to the Holden - ie pretty average.
Camera phone quality.

Back to the Camry vs. Aurion thing... I actually quite liked the new Camry, but then upon sitting inside, I didn't like the air conditiong controls- they reminded me of the Impreza's climate control, except, similar to the Astra, the knobs felt... not right? Maybe not enough resistance? Maybe it was just a bit loose? Not sure. But they looked better than they felt to actually use.
... so my question is, is the Aurion interior like that?

LOL... but don't most Asian countries (apart from Japan?) use the Lexus nameplate for the luxury models? Or are you referring to the whole "Asian" (warning: this is a stereotype!) luxury chain of "Benz/BMW -> Volvo -> Honda -> Toyota"?lengy said:
