Hi everyone
I'm currently in Year 11, doing 3 unit english.
We have an assessment coming up on genres, and my class is doing Tragic Hero.
My related text was Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp (Tim Burton).
I was just wondering, Is Sweeney Todd a tragic hero?
I've found the hamartia, peripeteia, anagnorisis and catharsis, but a friend said he isn't really a tragic hero...

Well, why did this friend say that they aren't a tragic hero? Did they give any reasons?

I didn't do the Tragic Hero genre, but I do think you could argue Todd in the Burton film is a tragic hero (at least in the same regard as characters such as Macbeth, ie people who do rather nasty things).
