you're not dumb natstar! I wanted to transfer too but I didn't have enough time to do a personal statement so yeah that sort of fell through...oh wells UWS is fine. Transferring after the first year is possible provided you get good marks...then if it is a different uni you wish to transfer to you just apply through UAC as you did in yr. 12, but you apply as a non-school leaver. Just don't forget to write a personal statement like me!! you can read up on all that stuff later but it is possible to transfer, just work hard and see what happens...you never know you might like UWS and decide you don't need to transfer...I sort of decided that anyways...so it's all good, just focus on doing well and see where that leads you...good luck!

yeah I understand what you mean, it would be hard to be away from your family for long periods of time...hopefully you'll be able to figure out something then! :) Though just for future reference for others wanting to transfer just apply to be safe...and at least you aren't left kicking yourself, for either not applying or writing stupid personal statements...grrrr hehe...but yes UWS is fine as a uni so don't transfer on that account alone...I'm assuming those wanting to transfer are looking at other factors other than the fact the think the actual uni sucks...which it doesn't ;)

your using our uni as a stepping stone??!!??!! how dare you!

Nah, just joking...do what you like, you have your reasons.
Application is through UAC for cross institutional study, I'm sure you can read about transfers in the Uni General forum. Do well and you should succeed.

Jacks, i'm not sure about personal statements...is this for a particular uni you mean?
I didnt submit one, but i reapplied to UWS so i didnt need one.
I was stupid not to put in a UTS course but i'm happy with my parra location which was my aim at the start of 2004 so i am not complaining.
Actually, we all thougtht that points would rise. How unexpected...If i was born a year later, i could have finished year 12 last year and had lower entries which means i could have done my preferred course. lol

umm I'm pretty sure as far as personal statements go you have to submit one with your application if you are trying to get into uni and are anything other than a current yr. 12 school leaver. I don't know if it applies to all unis, I thought it did, or at least to the bulk of them. Though it was such confusion that caused me to not do one...and hence stuck where I am...not that it's a bad thing just frustrating. My advice to anyone wanting to transfer though is to really check about whether you need to do one...and you can always submit one anyways, needed or not to make your application really stand out...:)

I first had that thought. I wanted to change over to UNSW later on, however in hindsight, I am happy I am still at UWS. Believe me, changing wont get your anywhere if we offer the same course.

exactly and that's my thought too...anyways on the subject of personal statements I give up hehe...I was trying to get into UTS so that's pretty typical if it's one of the only unis that requires it...from what I've heard though it's an across the board thing for those not coming straight from school...I'll see if I can find something on the UAC website that confirm or denies that though...

I kinda wished that I had transfered now ... I could have made it into an environmental science course un unsw. I just don't know what to do anymore ... and i still have finalised my timetable for first semester ... I don't know what elective to choose ... I had to choose 6 and it makes it so confusing.

yeah all the electives get annoying you sort of run out of things to do, that you want to do anyways. I decided to do italian as my elective within my course, and hopefully that will be something that works out ok for me...

I'd love to do a language I was thinking of german ... but my problem is transport ... I don't have a car so its pretty difficult to get to campuses thats why i have limitations only going to parra and hawkesbury. And my timetable of the subjects I want to do is already full with 4 days ... grr.

that's too bad...I think bankstown is the only campus that offers languages? Oh well there must be something there you can do, but I know what you mean, it's hard to choose between a lot of different things, especially if you're really only doing them because you have to. Transport is a problem for me too but more so to the opposite campuses to those you find hard to get to. This may be somewhat of a problem if they move all of BA (Comm) units to penrith...at the moment my major is still offered at bankstown, thank goodness!!

yes you can transfer if you get the marks...applying through UAC as I said before as a non school leaver...pretty much all the same stuff really...usually if you transfer you get academic credit when you transfer, although if you switch from nursing to business I don't think there is much credit they can give you since the subject matter is so different...you'll probably have to start the new course from scratch if and when you transfer...just see what you think of nursing, you may like it and stick with it. :)
