Hey

If you are a tertiary student and doing the interviews do the interviewers know what uni course you're doing?

Or even that u are a uni student?

And what if your degree is not science related? *guilty of it!*

Thanks. :)

You have to apply as a non-standard applicant i.e. non school leaver like everyone one else. No the interviewer's don't know what your doing but they could always ask!

Meh, I doubt that they will be that prejudicial i was going to do B. Arts and grad medicine before cause doing a non-science degree could broaden your horizons/interests, however you still may want to do medicne, be it graduate, etc whatever way of entry.

ahah! oh dear!
I know..they could definetly ask!
and I have no clue how to explain myself. [because.. I had convinced myself that i wouldn't apply after the shocking UMAT results from last year..

but because i have a months break till the UMAT and uni doesn't start I thought one last try!

oh.. so us, 'non-standard' applicants would be interviewed differently.
I just hoped we were alll together so that they wouldn't know whether it was a school student or a uni student!! [thats hoping isnt it?]

NO everyone is interviewed the same and the interviewer's don't know what your doing. Unless the ask, etc. But they will ask the typical why do you want to do medicine questions that's when you redeem yourself!

Non-standards, have a different entry criteria if they have completed a year of study, so yeah you will be a non-standard applicant however they will only look at your uai for the cut-off. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Yea. DO they ask people in yr 12 what subjects they really enjoy? (or sumthing similar)

correct me if im wrong but i read on MSO that to apply for UWS med its either 95 UAI(if you are not from GWS) or a GPA of 5.5.

Is it true that you dont have to meet both, but only one? It doesn't affect me but just curious.

They could i know one interviewer personally and she did ask that and alot of general questions, to form a judgement of the student.

NO it is only 95 or 93 or GWS if you have not completed a year of study. I presume ur applying again this year applications are due in and assessed before the end of ur first year of uni studies, therefore if your case ur uai is used. If you apply again next year your GPA that will be used. PS i wrote most of the med entry stuff on MSO.

I'm fairly sure if you have completed 1 year FTE study then you can use your UAI or if you don't meed that requirement a GPA of 5.5 is also satisfactory, the UWS wiki has been updated with this information on MSO, there is also a post on the website with someone also in your position (or similar) and I am also in your position except im doing a science related degree.

No once you have an academic record you have to declare it if it states you have to. If you don't it can be a statutory offence.
I wrote most of the stuff for MSO before but yeah most of it has been changed and is irrelevant atm untill UWS releases it's med applicaiton info on the 7th of July.
