hey
if anyone can confirm this for me:

i am currently enrolled in Commerce at UNSW first year. but i want to change to diagnostic radiography in which the required UAI is only 89 and i got 93.35. i know that there's no mid-year entry for this course so if i drop out of uni this year and wait till next to apply, is my UAI still valid?

regards

yeah your UAI will be with you for 5 years i think, so if you drop out now, then they will only count your UAI if you want to go to diagnostic radiography
just hope it doesnt jump by 5 points or more and you should be sweet
but if you mean you wanna transfer, then what you did at uni this year will be counted as well as your UAI

your UAI is valid for 5 years i think.

The only problem, is if the UAI jumps in the next year. But its not likely to go up almost four points.

Edit: Fuck. The post above me wasnt there when i posted this.

this year?

No. If you are not studying, you cant get YA (i dont think)

You may be able to get some money if you are a low income earner. You're best off to get a job this year, save up the money you will need for uni.

If you mean next year, if you choose to do DR part-time.. i dont think you can get it either, or you get a minimal amount.

Check with centrelink.

diagnostic radiography means that ur the person that analyses the x-rays and all right, not the person that just goes around taking x-ray pictures? or is it both?

if you're studying DR, you're becoming a radiographer, that means taking hte pictures. you can't make a diagnosis from the pictures. only a radiologist does that. a radiologist is basically a doctor that has specialised training to analyse the x-rays and make a diagnosis.

if i remember correctly, to become a radiologist, you have to do medicine, then specialise in radiology.

when u are fully qualified you will be able to spot things before the radiologist does. in RT we tend to spot a lot of things before the onocologist

yeah right. I doubt you get paid for anything

I'm in speech path and have done a load of pracs. dont get paid for anything

If you go on a rural placement they probably help pay for accommodation or meal allowances but thats it.

The one year placement after the degree is called a "professional development year" (PDY). You have to find the job yourself, but everyone gets one in DR. You get paid (over 40k).

The placements you do during the course are not paid. Only the PDY.
