ive posted this in another thread...but some may not visit it anymore so i'll re-past it...anyway...

Hey guys...
im @ USYD at the moment, doing a B health science, and im thinking of transferring next year to do nursing @ uts city campus...i think it would be a much more fulfilling courese and more directed to where i see myself in the future..anyway end of that rant...my point is..who can tell me anything about the selection criteria to transfer...and if its hard..

and one more thing....in terms of specialising...can you choose to specialise in midwifery or neonatal? i really want to do something with infants

You can just do B. Midwifery if you wanted to, it's a 3 year course and you're a Midwife at the end of it. Otherwise, I think UTS might have maternal health subjects, look on the website in course structure for nursing.

I t/f from Newcastle (did my first year there) and it was an easy process.

i put in my UAC application & sent off a personal statement stating why i want a place in the course. i got a call from one of the lecturers (Sandra, can't remember her surname but she's slightly frightening) who asked me to bring in some additional paperwork.
they looked at my uni marks, my STAT marks and personal statement. i don't think my (abysmal) UAI entered into the equation.

then i got a place.

i was given credit for one year of subjects, but it was all a bit of a mess so i had some classes with 2nd years and some with ENs/grads doing the accelerated course.

if you get a place at the city campus you still need to go to kuring-gai (lindfield) once a week for practical lab classes. in 3rd year everyone has their once-fortnightly class at kurring-gai.

Hey there Vodkacrumble,

Just wondering if you could tell me what year you transferred from UNewc and how many subjects you ended up being credited for?
I am considering transferring next year (I'm 1st year UNewc atm) but have been told I will probably only recieve credit for 2 subjects (out of the 8 I will have completed) if this is the case then I will probably just stay put or look at transferring interstate but I my first choice is defintely UTS so just curious.

Thanks.
