I've applied to do B Commerce/Arts at UNSW for 2006, which i should get into through my uai of 96.25. I am applying for World Cup tickets though next year, and i was wondering in terms of uni what will happen. I leave on the 11th of June and probably will not arrive back in Australia until late June.

The big question is, if i get these tickets, will i be able to enrol in the course still, or will i have to defer?

You will not able to sit through the exams.

Think you need to defer or do the exam earlier otherwise.

No, what I meant is unlesss you could do the exam earlier, you would miss out on the exam.

It is more like you definately can't do exam earlier.

Since your reason for undertaking the exams earlier is to go to the World cup...I don't think most Course coordinators will allow you to take the exam early base on that.

You need the lecturer in charge to answer the question. Given that, they'll reserve their right to change their minds later on.

Upon accepting your offer for the degree, you will be asked whether you want to defer one year or start this year.

Unless you are actually playing soccer for Australia overseas, they will probably just laugh in your face and tell you that if you don't do the exams, they will fail you.
You can enroll in your degree, just that if you do choose to go overseas during exam period, you will fail all your courses without supplementry exam, unless you have a very good reason for not attending.

Redslert is pretty much on the ball.

Going overseas to see the game, they probably won't accept as a legitamate excuse for being absent during the examinations period.

So I guess you've got a few likely scenarios arising now.

Defer and hope and get the tickets. Win for you
Defer and don't get the tickets. Maybe a win, make it a GAP year. (i.e. make something out of the year, even if you weren't able to go to the game)
Go to uni, watch game on tv.

UNSW has said pretty much what redslert said. I guess i'll just see if i get tickets now.
