hey all.
I have an old Toshiba laptop with a trident cyberaladdin-p4 graphics set.
I run powerstrip just to see what i can do with it, and it sais the core speed is about 1009MHz, now, this laptop is over 2 years old, so I know this isn't right.
Does anyone know what the speed should be? Or how to fix the error?

The laptop I'm using at the moment is 3 or 4 years old. It's clock speed is also 1GHz. What's so wrong with that?

Anyway it's a pentium 4. Sounds about right.

1Ghz....for a graphics chipset with 32MB shared memory?
don't get confuzulated, the CPU speed is 2.66GHz

I thought you said graphics but I figured you were confused, since you gave a speed in GHz. Sorry. :)

Dude...what the hell do you expect? it's a fucking 3 year old laptop.

But yeah, the speed it gives in Powerstrip is about 1009MHz (just over 1Ghz)
But this can't be right, esp for the GPU core speed.

The CPU is good (2.66GHz) but let down by its 400MHz FSB XD

Depends, could be the kinda case where 1000MHz of that = fuck all operations per clock cycle.

From the makers of this graphics chip (source):

The CyberALADDiN-P4 is the latest generation of shared memory architecture (SMA) graphics and core logic chipset jointly developed by Trident Microsystems, Inc and Acer Laboratories, Inc (Ali). This SMA solution is designed to interface with Intel's Pentium® 4 and Pentium® 4-M processors through the 400 MHz system bus. CyberALADDiN-P4 combines two proven production worthy cores in the industry: the CyberBlade XP2 graphics core from Trident and the M1671 North Bridge core from Ali to deliver a low-risk, cost-effective, and versatile Pentium® 4 SMA solution for notebook PCs targeted to OEMs and ODMs:

Other key features include:

# Dual-pixel, quad-texture rendering engine operating at 133 MHz system clock
I would guess it's an error in Powerstrip (unless I'm interpreting the Cybealaddin page wrong), since the chip almost certainly shouldn't be running at 1Ghz. As for fixing it.... you could try updating the drivers (though a quick Google doesn't seem to give me anything obviously useful). That's as much as I can think of.
