How do you find the exact value of tan285 ?

Is it something along lines of
tan180 + tan(60+45)?

Can you even do this? o.o

It requires extension 1 and you approached it wrong.

No. You mean tan (180 + (60 + 45)), which is not the same thing as yours.

Better: tan (240+45)

As stated, you then need Ext 1 work.

Tan285 = -2- (sqrt3)

yes, this makes more sense but apparently i got the same answer using my initial method
Your original method worked only because tan 180 is zero. In general, it wouldn't work.
