Who wants to go there next year, 2007 students?

(I want to do the 85 UAI Japanese course.... but, my current UAI is probably only good enough for the 75 UAI one... I'm getting extra marks for illness, and that's not taking assessments into consideration, but still... who can say?)

But yah, regardless of which course I do, I really want to go there...
Who else? Put your hands up!

fill out a special consideration form and prey?
Also check that the UAI75 guarantee does/doesnt apply to the course you are wanting to do.

RocketScientist, if i were you i would consider B Engineering, and depending on how you like it, transfer to what you want after the first semester. you'll do exactly the same courses as you would do if you did b sci (phys/maths):

advanced physics, maths honours... plus engineering (which is a fun course i've heard) and IT.

get prepped for physics while you're in year 12... start doing extension questions and all that jazz (and most importantly start liking physics in general). all my mates doing adv physics who topped it in year 12 says it's a real bitch (difficulty wise and time consumption wise) and the majority of suckers in that course thinks the workload is insane.

there's pretty much no specialisation in the first year, especially the first semester so take advantage of that and do a wide variety of courses. internally transferring is easy as pie.

if you need any more advice give me a holler.

OMG! finally, a place where I can blab about ANU.. all of my friends are against my choice coz they think i'm putting myself into exile! hahaha. but i reckon it's gonna be realli cool, starting out fresh and everything. living in peace.

uuuhmm, I'm melo btw u guys, and I wanna do IB (88 UAI) i dont think i'll be able to get in that one though since i'm doing my HSC at TAFE in one year, and working part-time, so my alternative is BS Commerce which is 75. Still, hard to achieve, but I'm determined!!

Hey, are you guys coming to the open day?? Are there other events that I should be aware of?

hi there!

88 UAI is not really that hard to get, considering once you are in uni, if you even want a high credit average, the amount of effort you put in will be quite significant- more than enough to get you an 88 UAI should you dedicate the same effort in now.

Just try your hardest so there's no regrets.

heyyyYyy.. spaNx for the replii. :) so encouraging! .. ye, i guess the effort i'm putting in now is just a preparation of the bigger work aheard for uni. hey, i noticed ur doing commerce .. do u realli need to pass math, or have a maths subject to get in commerce?? or even, International Business??.. seems like a silly question, but I'm not doing very well in GENERAL maths right now,.. *so embarassing* hahahaha.

I'm on pathways now, so I have to wait until '09.
Bleh.
But I want to do a bachelor of arts, majoring in drama and english! It's a 75 at the moment, which is fine. I want to get better than that, but the lower UAI certainly takes off some of the pressure.

yea me too: Bachelor of science (masters), majoring in physics n mathematics!!!!, good luck buddy
masters?
you should definitely consider doing PhB (Science) if you get a UAI over 99 (though depends how high it is, it'd probably need to be at least 99.30). I'm doing that, majoring in maths and astrophysics, and i'd definitely recommend it.

as for physics being a bitch - well yeah, it really was last semester. but lots of courses are difficult. once you get to theoretical physics you stop having to waste three hours a week on labs, so it gets better.

Just make sure you take 1115/1116 mathematics instead of the other one. 1013 and 1014 are for lamers. ;)

And if you're into maths and physics, I highly recommend taking STAT2001 in 2nd sem 1st year (MATH1115 is a pre-req). STAT2001 is very maths centric, a fun course, and a great complement to any physicist or mathematician.

Yeh, I wanna go there too. Im at Sydney now doing the IB, not HSC. I need 95UAI for BofCommerce - Actuarial Studies. I dunno if Ill get it, I have been slacking off lately. Im so stoked for it tho and really hope I can go, Canberra is beautiful and you can cycle everywhere. I also hope I can get some good accomodation. I would really enjoy the fresh start away from family too.
Im thinking of going to Open Day but its in the middle of my IB trials so yeh...

I'm in Melbourne and I've applied for the PhB (Arts) at ANU as well as Arts/Law. I'm not sure about it, but I'm glad I put in my preferences.

hey, i remember you from all the VCE english threads last year ;)

i definitely recommend trying for the PhB. one of my best friends began doing arts/law at ANU but then transferred into PhB arts at the end of her first semester because well, law is boring. but PhB arts is a great program if you're strongly interested in properly studying and researching areas such as english literature, history, linguistics, or a language. and of course, having done things like UMEP english or anything will definitely assist your chances when applying.

Thanks :)

I'm definitely interested in research, at the moment I think I would like a career in academia. So (if I can get in) I think the PhB is for me.

The only setback is that I have to move!

definatly worth the move - seriously. There are plenty of people who are here from melbourne. ANU is great - i can't imagine myself anywhere else. I spose the main challenge is at the start and end of every year. But even then - we have box rooms where you can store your junk over the holiday break.

I'm trying for Bachelor of Arts (Develpment Studies). It's only 75 but I'm still nervous I wont get it. Not too fussed about moving to Canberra though, opposite actually, I can't wait for the independant life! I went to the open day last year and the uni looks really nice and modern unlike some of the other places i've been too.
