I do reccommend the external USB TV tuners.
In that way, you can take it around, to any laptop or PC you wish, not being confined only in your PC.

That ones quite expensive, usally much cheaper, but, it does do HDTV.

I heard you need an internet connection if you use a TV TUNER.. is this correct? and if so, how many KB does it take? =\ i'm capped enough as it is these days with a 3GB plan
nope, not at all. the only requirement is a 1ghz processor (if you want to record) and an antenna that can give you decent reception

Its the practicality.

Your TV Capture card turns into a digital recorder that you can set at any time, to record any channel you wish while being miles away from your desktop.

Ever wanted to tape something for a friend ?
How bout recording it and then burning it as a DVD or .avi ?

I am good enough at computers to install the card and get the tv working (and convert recordings, etc), but for a digital broadcast, do you need a special receiver in your house or something? Like, when I put the card in the computer, how does it get the HDTV signal into it?

i just don't understand the theory of how a digital broadcast works. I mean, with analogue, we have arials and stuff and to connect it to a computer we need to connect the card to the aerial (whether it's one of those portable ones or one of the roof)
Nah, as long as you are within digital broadcast range you should have a problem.

Ive got an HDTV tuner in my computer and nothing special connected to the house and I still get HDTV on my computer.

What format and TV cards allow u to record tv in smaller compression cause my card makes files 84.3MB that are 2:44 mins long with shit resolution and alright music
