My school recently told us that they have a program that can calculate (roughly) an estimate of our UAI, which I'm sure is common to many schools.
Either way, my friend went to get hers estimated and they got her to predict what she thinks she'll get in certain subjects (as in, marks) and this then would produce an estimated UAI.

Now, I was told that she told them she'd get a band five in every subject (not sure what marks exactly), and she doesn't really do any subjects that would "drag her mark down", like art.

Why, then, did her estimated UAI eventuate to be about 65?

Any explainations?

P.S. The program my school uses is not a flimsy one, and I know that these UAI calculators are not always reliable, but this predicted UAI can't be right... can it?

Yeah I was thinking of ignoring it because it just didn't seem right, but I thought I'd post on here to see other people's opinions.

Thankyou for your help anyway...

They all scale down.

80 - 83% in these subjects would probably eventuate in a UAI of 65 or less.

ancient from my memory, had not much scaling (i think it was down - slightly). But don't hold me onto that, it's been 2 years since I last did ancient.

People shouldn't worry about scaling. As long as you ace all of your subjects scaling won't affect you.

absolutely not possible to get a band 5 in all your subjects and get a UAI of 65.
i'd say over 75-88, depending on how she goes in her subjects.

if you improve your marks for atleast 2 subjects you will get a UAI of 80.

Always aim for band 5's because thats when you're safe and guarenteed 75+
