hey, my marks so far are really bad.I was supposed to drop out because i found a trade but then i lost my licence so i cant start untill i get them back. So i bummed half yearlies didnt study for anything and my just cruised through basically. But ive knuckled down for the trials been studying for last two weeks and hope fully all my marks should be around 70%, i really need a UAI of 69 to study policing.. .. my half yearly report said

standard english: mark:55/100 rank: 100/158

food tech: mark:60/100 rank: 8/18

general maths: mark: 53/100 rank: 60/94

PDHPE: mark:52/100 rank: 36/44

ancient history: mark: 67% rank: 20/85

my school was ranked 100-150 in 2004
what do you think my chances are of 69 UAI???

yeah youll need to improve...at this rate youll be looking at 50s to low 60s max, but unless theres a substantial improvement during the period between the trials and the conclusion of your last hsc exam, then getting 69 UAI isnt impossible.
good luck nonetheless.

^ we really cant use your marks to give you an indication of your UAI. We need your ranks to go alongside with your marks for each subject.
However, if those are the marks that you think youll get, then by all means plug it onto SAM.

ranks are pretty good, so if you can improve your ranks by a few more during the trials, and ace your externals then youre set for 85+

Well I haven't received my trial results back and I still have two exams to go but what would be my predicted UAI with these marks and ranks?

English Std. - 63% - Rank 8/50 maybe cauz they haven't given standard their ranks because they presume we don't give a shit lol
General Maths - 84% Rank 9/70
Business Studies - 82% Rank 4/55
IPT - 86% Rank 1/9
SDD - 78% Rank 2/11

And my school is NOT in the top 200

75-85UAI depending on how well you do in the hsc. Your going to need to kill the hsc for standard english to be able to get 80 plus uai.

I don't understand this 'predicting' stuff... Does anyone know how the HSC marking REALLY works???

I've heard stories of people doing ABSOLUTE CRAP during the year, doing well in their HSC exams - band 5/6 UAI (presuming they got 80's and 90's in their exams though).

I hope I'm not coming across as bagging your UAI prediction (and being mean) however via word of mouth this is what I've heard. If I'm wrong, sorry to put those of you that need a couple of more marks for your UAI goal and >MIGHT< not get it at a false sense of security... And sorry for questioning:bomb:

Umm there is mutiple threads on how the HSC marking/alinging/moderating process works. Peopel can give rough estimates.

What is highlighted makes no sense.
Also lol at band 5/6 UAI

Rightio... Thanks.

I don't get it?
The UAI is a rank scored in increments of 0.05 from 0 to 100. Although if you get less than 30, it says "30 or less." Yoru UAI isn't scored in bands.

my apologies, what I meant when I said band 5/6 UAI is the range, I didn't actually mean that you get a band UAI
