I am doing 11 units (english ext 1). I am aware that the UAI is only concerned with your best 10 units, does this mean english extension will not have an effect on my final UAI?

Depends on whether extension english is one of your best 10 units.

if it is it will mean your worst two unit subject will be cut in half (worth one unit) and the EE1 will count.
