I am interested in a career in Medicine (specifically Psychiatry) and I would like to start with a simple question - what is an Undergraduate degree which would be easy to gain a GPA of 5 (or more) in? I will be applying for Medicine as a graduate.
I would most like to do a B.Sc majoring in Physics, simply because it interests me, but I do not meet the Maths requirements (as I did not complete the HSC, instead I completed a University Foundation Studies course at SCU - a year 12 equivalent) and I imagine gaining a GPA of 5 + would be considerably difficult. Another option I've considered is doing a BMedSci/BBioMedSci - another difficult degree.
The options I see for myself are to complete a tertiary Maths course (Maths B and perhaps C and even Physics) in order to meet the entry requirements of most Science degrees, enroll in another Science degree and transfer or enroll in a B.A and select Maths as my major and transfer when appropriate.
Also, are there any Universities which offer entry to Medicine based on UMAT/interviews as opposed to the ATAR/UMAT combination?
Those are the options which I'm aware of, however I would like the input here as to what may be an acceptable route for myself.
Thank you.
