Hey, im having a hard time picking my preferences for Uni, im currently in year 12 and wish get into a course where it involves software programming, preferably for games. Can anyone recommend a good Uni and/or a good course i should try for? I was thinking ANU but not sure what software engineering is like over there.

do you have any preferences in the area you want to go to university? Just NSW or ACT? I would be a little wary about doing a games development degree, they seem to be just baiting students. Your best bet would be a proper computer science degree, doing computer graphics, programming and artificial intelligence type subjects in your final year.

Ah welll can have a look at computer science degrees ate australian universities or more specifically computer games development courses in universities in australia. I dont think you need to take a degree in Software Engineering to get into Games Programming...that said if you do Games Programming ...which is a pretty niche area, you could possiblly be limiting your employment oppportunities...ie. you cannot work in any other field in IT except Games development ...My suggestion is , take a General computer science course , and a couple of electives in Games Programming....go to the faculty pages of each uni to see which ones offer such electives etc etc
