Okay. My bad. :p

I haven't heard much from any of these people at all - I have a weird vibe I think because I never get harassed each year to vote for anyone, I always manage to dodge people. (knowing my luck, I'll get harassed something savage this year now I've jinxed myself)

It'll be nice to see the campaign pick up next week. Just hope it rains after the 10th so all the chalking gets washed away.

Most candidates haven't started pamphletting yet, except for going around Union buildings talking to people.

Re: Union Board Elections 2006 - UPDATED 26/4

I find it incredibly hilarious that some campaigners believe they can stop the war in Iraq.

No one listens to uni students, no matter WHO is president. When will people realise this?

Anywho, I doubt I can be bothered voting this year. But I do enjoy a good argument between two parties in my lectures.

Re: Union Board Elections 2006 - UPDATED 26/4

I am voting for Tom, Rose and Roz.

Tom and Rose namely because from what i have heard from them, they seem to offer good policies with regards to the economics of survival under VSU.
They are not part of the irrational left, but they still seem to have a strong sense of student rights and responsibility. But mostly just because of their rationalism with regards to operating under VSU, and they seem to have a passion that would mean shit would actually get down by the union, as opposed to it being used as a name on a CV.

Also, Roz is just a generally nice down to earth person who actually cares about whats happening to the individual. I know she's done a lot of work with Suls, and I've personally enjoyed the benefits. She seems to care about the individual, which is cool as a lot of people have all this great theoretical revolutionary ideas that inevitably amount to shit.

So yeah, that's what I personally am voting; Tome, Rose and Roz.

I dunno what order yet.

Re: Union Board Elections 2006 - UPDATED 26/4

Tom, Rose and Roz are all members of the Labor factions - Tom and Rose of NOLS, and Roz of Unity. For those of you who aren't familiar with the student political map, this means that Tom, Rose and Roz are all members of the two factions who are currently stuffing up our SRC.

I would wait until next week, or the week after to decide on who to vote for. Most of us can't afford to put out three weeks of campaign materials, and our policies and promises can't be well expressed in 200 words of policy statement.

Tanner's also being run by Crosby, so he's de factor Labor right.
I am voting for Tom, Rose and Roz.

What? Spend more money on crap that does fuck all to benefit students and as such increasing fees without increasing services and leaving members reluctant to join?
They are not part of the irrational left, but they still seem to have a strong sense of student rights and responsibility.
They do not believe in responsibility. They believe that people who assault police shouldn't be held accountable. They believe that a council worker should entirely fund the opportunity of me to signnificantly incrase my earning capacity.
But mostly just because of their rationalism with regards to operating under VSU, and they seem to have a passion that would mean shit would actually get down by the union, as opposed to it being used as a name on a CV.
Just because they have passion does not mean it's not misdirected. Hitler had passion. Stalin had passion.

Roz is actually quite good. I am def voting for her. She is using a lot of my policies and she isn't, as waf says, spending money on crap. She wants to provide value for students to join.

I'm taking the same stance as stas on this one, she's a great girl, but her policies are unrealistic.

They protested at the hearings of the fuckstains, claiming they should never have been arrested, they were imprisoned for their views, political prisoners etc. There's no lies to be spread here, mate. :)

Danielle is a socialist, and Rose and Tom are members of an organisation that has socialism as one of its four pillars.

stop generalising: they do not believe that people shouldn't be imprisoned for crimes - they believe that in this situation, they shouldn't be imprisoned.

You say the left has nothing to campaign for yet you claim to be left....anyone see the contradiction?
You claimed at the SRC elections that you were not left
People on the left don't exchange prefrences with Liberal drys
Don't pretend that you are left-wing. I am gathering that this volte-face is because you have finally realised that you won't get elected, so you are now pretending to be running a left-ticket. Yet your policies don't reflect it.

I'm voting Danielle
I have a LONG history with the left-wing, including designing the website of the Communist Party of Australia. I, and most left-wingers distinguish between what we call the "pragmatic left" and the "irrational left". I fall into the former, the student left-wing political groups fall into the latter.
