Ook, my mom bought me a "USB2.0 Crystal Hub 3+1 Port (high speed)" - costs 30buks at Big W.

Basically i think 1 usb cord goes in and 3 come out ... which i need, cause i only have 2 at the back of my comp.

It says that system requirements:

- IBM PC with USB host connector

I dont know what that is. Where do i get it. How much is it .... is this thing any good?

If you computer has a USB port already (you've got 2), then you've got it. All you need to do is connect the hub (the 'in') to one of your computer's USB ports.

No not at all...though I would've imagined that one should have came with the USB hub.

If its a 4 port hub, there should be another connector for connecting to the computer.

i think you got jipped!
most usb hubs definitly comes with a usb cable, they might be really short but one should be included

hmmm make sure the usb hub doesn't require extra power adapter too! if it does the adapter should come with it aswell
you can check this simply but looking if there is an extra round connector hole (5mm)

Not at all. You'll find them at dicksmith or tandy for less than 10 bucks I imagine. Carefull how you plug in your devices if the hub is unpowered. Any devices that need to draw power from the USB port (optical mouses, certain scanners, USB massagers etc) should be plugged into one of the root USB ports, while unpowered devices are fine to share an unpowered hub. At least, this is what i found with USB 1.1, I'm not sure if they have fixed that problem with 2.0.

You'll service pack 1 at least if you bought it recently. Most USB hubs require USB 2.0, and dont work with 1.1 although they say they do. There should be 4 ports right, and then a smaller version of USB in the back of it. Like the cord that goes into the digital camera (if your stuck you could probably use your Digital Camera's cord, it should work).

Other than that if it didnt come with a cord, take that bitch back and exchange it.

Ok! You were right there ppl ... there was a chord in there - i didnt see it at first becauase the power cable was in the way (and i didnt wanna open it if it was b/s).

So i plug it in and it tells me: "You suck. there are no hi speed controllers on this computer. So now this device is going to work slow. Its all your fault!" ... or something along those lines.

This is ok still right?

And yes, it does have a power souce of its own.
