hi everyone,

i'm currently in year 12 and planning to study a double degree in law/economics. if i achieve an atar of 99.5 (which is perhaps possible but definitely not something i can count on), i don't think i'd be able to receive an offer from both usyd/unsw as i assume the spots would fill very quickly? so, i'm not sure which one of the two to put on my uac application. they're probably quite similar but i know usyd is more prestigious and may be slightly better for economics? however, i've always felt more drawn to unsw and i know that a bunch of people from my grade will probably be studying law there, and i've also heard that usyd has a bad social life and unsw is better. usyd also doesn't require me to catch the tram, which would save some time.

as for anu, i have applied for the tuckwell scholarship and i can't afford to relocate to canberra, so i would probably only go if i got said scholarship, of which there is a small chance since it's highly competitive. i like the idea of living on campus as my commute to usyd would be 1hr and unsw would be 90 mins +, and having more time to study and a better uni experience. however, i'm worried about clerkships as there would be less options in canberra. also, although anu is go8 it's still less prestigious than usyd and unsw, though i don't know if having tuckwell would counter that. to be honest, the only reason i want to go to anu is because i've heard there are lots of parties living on campus while the commuter unis are a bit dead, but this is probably a shallow reason and i should prioritise employment.

please call me out if i have any unfounded assumptions as a hs student who doesn't know too much about uni! also, a lot of this is super early as i have no idea if i will be able to get the required atar for any of the unis or the tuckwell scholarship lol

UNSW dorms are full of special people (no offense).

The other day I walked past their dining hall everyone looked and sounded like the funny 1776627379272.png patrik meme.

In fact, I think I even saw a special ed "non-verbal" from my high school a year/years above me walking into the dining hall (goldstien).

Your other option if you want to live in a dorm is USyd's colleges.

"Social-life" doesn't exist in UNSW too lmfao. Have you not read up on what societies do? They engage in hazing and record you singing in the interview process to join the societies. Plus you might even have to eat your own shit for business/law related societies.

In lectures, you experience at UNSW will be very similar to USYD. That's cause lectures aren't places for making friends. If you're talking about societies, well if you have a humiliation kink, you can join if that's your thing.

Many can get into UNSW law with an atar below even 90. This is because of their gateway Diversity Equity Inclusion Scheme. You wont be among the brightest people of the country, and you will definitely notice. Cause of a lower IQ demographic, everyone's just gonna go drinking because drinking is so fun for them for some reason. USyd actually requires 99.5, meaning more likely than not, the person you intereact with in Usyd law isn't dumb. This means more prestiege as well.

No, UNSW is not less white (assuming you're not white), UNSW has tons of white people (imo makes me uncomfortable as much as it makes @kkk579 uncomfortable

yeah lol i'd only go to a dorm at anu if i get the tuckwell scholarship bc otherwise no way i could afford it i'd just commute in, so unsw/usyd colleges not rlly on the table. also are you trolling or is the hazing thing for business and law actually true... i kinda believe it for business but i thought law was more civilised ngl
