hey ppls which uni is better prestige wise..........like has a better name around the world - UTS or Macquarie uni?

i think they are both of very similar vintage. each is recognised for different courses. mac probably for psych. it depends on the course really. very hard to say

So a university's worth is based on how nice the campuses are?

Both UTS and MAQ are good unis. Each have their areas of speciality... e.g. macquarie is highly regarded for actuarial, psych etc... UTS for communications, IT, business etc.

Really depends on what degree your going for, one cant really say that a uni has more presitige then another uni overall, as most unis specilise.

with teaching....coz my cuzin was offered a place in both uts and macq and she wants to complete her degree here but then go overseas to teach, so which of them has a better name round the world

probably that would be UTS, cause they have well known international recognition.

UWS and ACU have quite good teaching faculties, whereas the big4 Sydney unis are more aimed at Professional jobs like law, Business, Medicine, Science, etc

maquarie is commerce (esp actuarial) and psych...it is reknown in the business world... all this talk of reputation and prestige is pretty stupid...the fact of the matter is if ur a shit student that goes to the "prestigious universities" (e.g syd/nsw etc), the prestige cannot save u...marks r far mre important than prestige...and unis like maq and uts r still held in high regard

very true..............you cares how "prestigious" the uni is. uts and mac are good unis. they are just a little less established. in the end you can do nearly any course at sydney and know its going to be quite good.

it doesnt matter if the course or uni is good

what matters is if u apply urself- after that u can do anything within reason

ah i dont know- if shes going to be studying in the hopes of working abroad she should get good marks and also if she can do Barts in international studies or something along those lines

the actual work is more important more than the prestige of one uni over another...because no employer should hire someone because they went to a good uni. its just plain unfair because they should be hired because theyre suited to the job

do you already know ppl there? (friends are important and also helpful at times)
transport?

im sure there are other questions you can ask yourself when deciding upon a university...which ive already done and i feel like ive made my point clear

if shes qualified for the job she should get it if they like her and she has any experience possibly
