I don't really understand how it works after the main rounds..

Okay, you've already finalised your preferences, and you changed them around because you thought you couldn't get into a course because you were off the uai by 2-4 marks, so you took that one off. The offers come out in the main round, and you get into a course that you put down.. then later on there were some vacancies, and one of the vacancies was for course that you wanted before-- would it be possible to get into that course with the vacancies even though you didn't put it on your list of preferences??

no, it would have to be one of your preferences
you can chance preferences between rounds tho
But then the UAI sky-rockets in later rounds

only in the high-demand courses (such as commerce) ... in really unpopular courses, the uai takes a nose-dive ...

look at last yr's cutoffs for the Late Round (at the UAC site)
there were basically no offers made for commerce in the late round from the popular uni's...because they get filled in the main round

the ones with * means there was no offers made (ie, already full from the main round)

no, u dont understand

it means, that there was NO offers made in the late round for those courses

offers are made in the late round ONLY if there are vacancies open from the main round
at this point, therre may only be like a handful of places available, hence it becomes extremely competitve for a place (ie the UAI cutoff skyrockets, coz of the extreme demand)

YES! meaning, there are no places left after the main round. so you wont get into that course.

I don't really understand the late, and final round offers.

Why does the cut-off usually rise? Isn't it assumed that the majority of student who receive a UAI that meets the cut-off, immediately receives a main round offer?

Therefore, shouldn't the cut-off be lower in the late, and final rounds, giving those with a lower UAI a better opportunity?
