Reliability refers to the accuracy and how carefully the experiment was carried out, for example, repeating the experiment.

Validity refers to the methods and equipment - whether or not the experiment carried out makes sense.

In an experiment reliability refers to the consistency of the information. Do you consistently come up with the same result?

Validity refers to whether the measurements you are taking are caused by the phenomena you are interested in. Is it testing what you claim its testing?

The relationship between reliability and validity can be confusing because measurements can be reliable without being valid. Eg, if you are doing a titration and you consistently use the wrong method to measure the volume, your results will be reliable as they are consistent. The won't be accurate as you use the wrong technique and they won't be valid as they won't be measruing what you claim to be measuring.

You should be aiming for reliable, accurate and valid results.
