hi, im doing a viva on comparing different styles of jazz.. im doing blues and swing.. i have to compare and contrast their characteristics and i dont know where to get info from .. all i have is the history of both but the teacher said she doesnt want that.. can anyone help?

erm you could try your out of school music teacher- if urs is anything like mine then he/she should have heaps of books, possibly on what you're looking for. otherwise listen to a whole heap of blues and swing stuff, get scores and find the constrasts and similarities yourself.

i have a book on jazz music, i'll have a look and see if there's anything that might possibly help you in there

I did a bit of research on Jazz in Yr 11, not much but...you can find a lot of information on Jazz in your local library, in the form of books and videos. There are some really good videos on jazz.
