What's the formula for the volume of a cone..

If a cone has radius R and the height h, then it is:
1/3 x (pi)R² x h

or

1/3(pi)R²h

I hope you know what pi is ...

Don't you have to take into account the radius of both the top and bottom on the cone in the formula.
I'm doing a question from an Abetsleigh paper and it has a picture of a cone with heighter= 6cm and the larger part of the cone having a radius=6cm. And it says prove that the volume of this cone= 1/3piR2 √36-r2

Could you give us the actual question? The normal equation for the volume of a cone is 1/3 *pi*r²*h, where r is the base radius and h is the perpendicular height of the cone.
